Day 3 Williamsburg Winery

Entrance lane to Williamsburg Winery
It's wine making time...October....and the weather is a record HOT and HUMID !

A wonderful "event" hall - made to feel like a chateau

The "Red" wine cellar. Oak barrels from France cost $800, from Hungary $600 and the US $300. Following four rounds of wine being aged in the barrels, they are put up for sale for $75...there's an 8 year waiting list!

Smithfield, Isle of White

Smithfield is a step back in time, featuring a great walking tour of historic homes
Most are Victorian in nature with details beyond the everyday idea of "extras".

Lunch time in the local deli...brunswick stew, grilled cheese and ice cream! YIKES!!!!!!!!!

This spectacular home is now a B & B

Check out the basement windows!...did I mention that Isle of White is NOT an island?

Day 2 continued

Driving along Isle of White in search of Smithfield.....
Oh Yes!....You know you're in the south when.....

...you see COTTON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 2 Williamsburg

Who in their right mind would head out on a day like this?
...and then get on a ferry! A FREE ferry across the James River to Isle of Wight

Welcome committee on the other side.....

Day 1 in Williamsburg

We couldn't have orchestrated this any better...our friends Doc and Joanne Schlei were enroute to Florida and in Williamsburg the day arrived.
Had them to our place for dinner, drinks, and a gazillion laughs about U. of W.

old buddies

A great evening was had by all! Take note of all the "Michigan" stuff in the car !!!!!!!!!!!
